Octoberfest Marathon 2010

Posted by domforth On May- 20 - 2010

We did it! In just over 3:45 we completed a grueling 26.2 Marathon in Spring Lake, MI. The conditions were horrendous with torrential downpours delaying the start of the race by over an hour. This rolling hill course was TOUGH. Forthy placed 3rd in Mens 25-29 Age Group. His running partner Bref Mchugh ranked 2nd.

Gasparilla 2010

Posted by domforth On January - 29 - 2010

Land, ho! Hoist the mizzen n set sail for Tampa! Shouts from the legendary pirate Jose Gaspar and his band of marauding buccaneers will ring out across the waters of Hillsborough Bay as they return to invade the City of Tampa. On Saturday, January 30th, at 11:30 a.m., the world's only fully-rigged pirate ship, the Jose Gasparilla, will magically appear at the south end of Hillsborough Bay. A multitude of pleasure crafts, all intent on defending the city, will boldly sail forth to meet the ship. But quickly seeing the error of their ways, they turn to join forces with the Captain and his Krewe’s flotilla. The colorful Gasparilla Flotilla then makes its way into Seddon Channel. The Gasparilla Invasion has begun!

John Forth Tribute

Posted by domforth On August - 05 - 2009

Full tribute to the original Forthy. He was an absolute legend and we will never forget him!! I'm just so grateful to have had such a wonderful brother. Full of so much character and personality – always making me laugh. We were both afforded similar opportunities in life but the one thing I had in life that John didn't, was him as my older brother. And I attribute so,so much of my success to John. He was brilliant. In John I had both sides to the perfect role model - a brother who was able to teach me what to do and the way to live my life … As Thomas Campbell once said.... 'to live in hearts we leave behind. Is not to die.'

Manchester to Preston to Burnley...

Posted by domforth On Monday, December 29, 2008
We started out with the ambition of meeting Jenny and her sister for a few drinks at the Printworks and watching the Manchester United game over a few beers.

What followed was an epic night that took us from Manchester 40 miles to Preston (in a taxi) then 25 miles to Burnley (in another taxi) only to have to journey back 4 hours the next day on public transport hungover as hell! Hey - it was worth the hangover!

(After four years, the kebab shop owner admitted he had never forgotten about his favourite customer!)

We covered 130 miles! The Map of the Journey is here:

The Albert Dock & Liverpool City Center

Posted by domforth On Sunday, December 28, 2008
In 2004, Liverpool's waterfront was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site, reflecting the city's importance in the development of the world's trading system and dock technology.

The docks are central to Liverpool's history, with the best-known being Albert Dock: the first enclosed, non-combustible dock warehouse system in the world and is built in cast iron, brick and stone.

Liverpool's main shopping area is Church Street, lying between Bold Street to the East and Lord Street to the West.

Liverpool One opened fully in October 2008 being the redevelopment of a large part of the postcode area L1—hence the name. It features this huge Beatles tribute through HMV.

As we walked through, half the city was euphoric - Liverpool were stuffing Newcastle 5-1 to cement their place at the top of the league.

Cream Boxing Night

Posted by domforth On Friday, December 26, 2008
What a great night!!

One of the best lineups in memory and the dj's didn't disappoint!

As the cream website stated the next morning:

"Nation was packed to the rafters to a sell out capacity crowd, with 3 rooms of music from the likes of Armin van Buuren, John Digweed, Danny Howells, Nick Warren, Laidback Luke, Jon Carter, Justin Robertson and more.

Armin raised the roof in the Main Room for a highly anticipated return, and John Digweed did some much needed damage to the Courtyard playing a 3 hour seminal set.

Whilst over in the Courtyard Laidback Luke smashed it, with one of the most energetic sets of the night, dropping some dancefloor classics to an up for it intimate crowd, we think its fair to say Laidback Luke isnt that laidback!

And lets not forget the return of the holy trinity that is Jon Carter, Nick Warren and Justin Robertson, who were welcomed back with open arms into the warm friendly bosom that is Cream!!!"

I only wish I'd shot more video!!!

I've got video of:

John Kelly in the Annexe
John Digweed in The Courtyard
Justin Robertson in the Annexe
Gareth Wyn in the Main Room
John O'Callaghan in the Main Room

The playlist in online HERE!

What made the night the most memorable of all was the people who were there: Niblock, Sy, Richy, Lucy, Laura, Grace, Matt Scahill, Jay, Rob, Carl and Frank. Good Times!

Saturday Night @ Mosaic

Remarkable...

Posted by domforth On Thursday, December 18, 2008
John's recovery keeps being close to remarkable. He was allowed out under close supervision today and the nurses were so pleased with the progress that they're getting ready for him to be home before Christmas, and possibly even sooner, possibly before the weekend! It's amazing how fast everything has moved!

They say that being immersed in a familiar environment will help his recovery dramatically. I can't wait to see him. I'm counting down the days!!

Steve Aoki @ Mosaic

Posted by domforth On Thursday, December 11, 2008
Featuring Steve Aoki
(And Spin Styles / DJ Who...)

Who is Steve Aoki?
Steve Aoki, also known as his stage name DJ Steve Aoki Kid Millionaire is the American club DJ who founded Dim Mak Records.

Why should you care?
Dim Mak Records is the indie label that jump-started the careers of the British neo-pop sensation Bloc Party. The label has more recently imported rising stars such as MSTRKRFT, Klaxons, Scanners, Whitey and Mystery Jets.

How was it?
Disappointing. Neither the Mosaic crowd nor Aoki seemed to know how to act toward one another. Apart from a very small number jumping up and down, the rest of the crowd were merely static spectators.
